Here is a very popular Gottlieb two-player pinball machine called ‘ROLLER COASTER’. The year is 1971 and this is an ‘EM’ (Electro-Mechanical) pinball machine. ROLLER COASTER’ includes some of Gottlieb’s most notable, and rare, features including:
• 1 ‘Score Spinner’ • 7 ‘Rollovers’ • 3 ‘Pop Bumpers’ • 2 ‘Kick Out Holes’ • 6 ‘Stationary Targets’
’ROLLER COASTER’ also includes two elevated ’roller coaster’ tracks that the ball travels on from the kick out holes down to the in-lanes. These where a pre-cursor to the now common ‘habitrails’ found all over newer electronic pinball machines and totally unique for this pinball era. ’ROLLER COASTER’ also includes the ever popular ‘SPECIAL’ feature that yields a replay and the ‘THWACK’ sound so sought after by teens of the ‘70’s!
‘ROLLER COASTER’ has several strategies. The first is to light the ‘1, 2, 3 & 4’ rollovers all around the playfield, and then shoot for the score spinner at the center of the playfield to light ‘SPECIAL WHEN LIT’, once ‘SPECIAL’ is lit, you may score ‘SPECIAL’ as many times as you can until you drain the ball! Another strategy of ‘ROLLER COASTER’ is to rack up the points by hitting the score spinner repeatedly then hitting the stationary targets nearest the flippers. ‘ROLLER COASTER’ is a very fun, skill game by Gottlieb. Unlike Bally and Williams, Gottlieb specialized in more difficult, strategy driven games.
I have been playing it and it is truly addictive! It plays fast and has that classic feel and SOUND! The theme is Amusement Park fun and would make the perfect gift for the pinball or adrenaline freak on your list. This model is in excellent condition as evidenced in the below photos. The theme is ‘family friendly’.
The playfield is beautiful. This machine includes our LEVEL 2 SERVICE and has been COMPLETELY REFURBISHED.
All of the playfield plastics are pristine with no cracks or fading. The back glass is in great shape with no areas of lifting or flaking paint. The back box metal door is included, (a component frequently missing on older machines). Also included are a new set of keys and locks for the coin door and back box door. The cabinet is in excellent shape, all corner joints are very tight, and the paint is like new (see photos). The legs are in fine shape.
Don’t miss this opportunity to own a vintage pinball machine that is in excellent ORIGINAL condition!
